Daddy Teacha - Teacha, originally hailing from Derby and now based in Plymouth, ranks as one of the UK’s pioneer ‘Nu Roots’ vocalists. Starting out with Midland’s Sound System Turbo Charge in the late 70s and early 80s, he cemented his reputation recording with seminal Dub artists Alpha & Omega in the early 1990s. He voiced the classic vocal track ‘David and Goliath’ for A&O’s Everyday Life LP as ‘Daddy’ Teacha and has featured on many subsequent releases and toured with them since 2003. He has other recorded works with artists and labels including: Germany’s Di Iries, The Uptones, Tanty Records, Irie Hi-Fi, and current tracks for OSS Records and Jamaica’s Amazon Blue Nile studios. His cuts have been heard on Radio One, Kiss FM, and received top ten play listings with two German radio stations, as well as airplay and interviews for many other national and international broadcasters. Teacha has performed alongside many highly acclaimed reggae acts including; The Abyssinans, Dillinger, Sly and Robbie, Mad Professor, Gentleman, Pato Banton, John Mclean, UK Apache, Sugar Minott, The Heptones, Desmond Decker, Burning Spear, Macka B, Iration Steppas and The Disciples. He has appeared at venues including the Glastonbury Festival (where has been a regular presenter on Radio Avalon - the official Glastonbury Festival Radio Station - for the past 10 years), Plymouth Heineken Festival, the Cornwall Coliseum, Plymouth’s Theatre Royal and Pavilions, Exeter's St Georges Hall and major universities across the UK. His extensive International tours have seen him in Montego Bay (Jamaica), the Canary Islands, Canada, Mexico, Poland Sweden and Germany. With a firm Reggae background, coupled with influences from soul to house, Teacha has succeeded in producing his very own stylised and professional repertoire with Roots and Dub over the past 20 years. He also delivers a personalised commercial reggae show of covers (from Marley, Aswad, Gregory Isaacs, Inner Circle and UB40 to Boyzone, Elvis, Brenda Lee, Celine Dione and Robbie Williams) to varied venues around the southwest, from pubs to social clubs including exclusive shows for private functions, weddings and birthdays...........
